Words from the desert.
Essays, observations, and dispatches from a life lived in the Sonoran Desert. Published on Substack, collected here.
My mother taught me to write. I vivdly remember an 8th grade assignment for which I had to write a newsletter ... on a manual typewriter. The section about the weather read: "Whether or not there will be any weather depends on whether or not the weatherman predicts any weather." Writing has always been part of my toolkit, throughout my career. I'm showing my most recent Substack posts here and I invite you to read and subscribe to my feed. Some of these are very recent. I also saved a few evergreen pieces from my now deprecated business website and republished them on Substack. Read. Enjoy. Disagree. Comment.
Topics wander: desert ecology, Phoenix life, the occasional dispatch from Mexico, and whatever crosses my path in life or on a Saturday at Desert Botanical Garden.
